Decabromodiphenyl Oxide
High concentrated HBr is a strong acid in aqueous solution, which is the raw material for various inorganic bromides (NaBr, KBr, LiBr, CaBr2, etc.), some alkyl bromides and other organic products. In medicine, it is used to synthesize tranquilizers, anesthetics, etc. In industry, HBr is used as extraction agent of some metal-based compounds, the catalyst for the oxidation from alicyclic hydrocarbons and chain hydrocarbons to ketone, acid or hyperoxide, the catalyst for purified terephthalic acid (PTA) and PET polymer. It is also used to synthesize dyestuff and spice.
Inorganic Bromides, sodium, potassium and ammonium, have the similar functions. When used in photo industry, bromides react with silver nitrate to form the light sensitive silver bromide, which is one of the building blocks of the photographic emulsion in film and photographic paper and developing. When used in pharmaceutical preparations, they act as diuretics and tranquilizers with the function of strengthening the inhibitory process of cerebral cortex. They can also be used in detergent manufacture, used as bromating agent and chemical agent in spice-synthesis, medicine and dying industry. In addition, NaBr and NH4Br are used as biocides for water treatment, KBr is used as a heat stabilizer in nylon production and NH4Br is used as a FR in wood and textile industries.
Decabromodiphenyl Oxide (DECA ) , is an additive type ,brominated flame retardant. It is widely used in plastics due to its high bromine content, good flame retardancy, higher heat stability y and cost efficiency. It is used in various plastic resins such as Polyethylene, Polypropylene, HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene), ABS, PBT, Polyamides, Rubbers, and in textiles formulations for back-coatings of fabrics used in upholstery furniture. Some end-use applications in Plastics include electrical and electronic equipment (housings of computers, TV sets etc.), automotive industry (under the hood parts for cars) and construction and building industry (pipes, wire & cables etc.).
